At one point during the start-up process, he said he had maxed out 11 credit cards and had accrued more than $200,000 in personal debt - plus signed a five-year lease for office space. He also had to pay back $1.5 million in unpaid salaries to his original staff of 45 who stayed with him through the lean (and unpaid) times.
